Authors who publish with International Literature of Muslim Understanding (ILMU) retain the copyright to their published work.

By publishing with ILMU, authors grant the journal the right of first publication and authorize the journal to publish, distribute, preserve, and disseminate the article as part of its scholarly publication record.

Articles published in ILMU are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License, allowing broad use and redistribution while protecting appropriate recognition of the original authors.

Reuse of ILMU articles must provide appropriate credit to the original work.

Attribution should normally identify the author(s), article title, journal title, publication year, and DOI or official article URL where available, and indicate whether changes were made to the original material.

Authors are permitted and encouraged to archive their published work in institutional or subject repositories, personal academic websites, and scholarly networks.

Where possible, archived copies should include the citation and link to the official version published by ILMU.

Authors may make earlier versions of their manuscript available through appropriate preprint or institutional repositories, provided that such dissemination does not constitute duplicate publication or violate applicable ethical standards.

Authors should disclose the existence of a publicly available preprint during submission. After publication, the preprint should preferably include a citation and link to the final ILMU article.

The CC BY 4.0 license applied to an ILMU article does not automatically override copyright restrictions attached to materials owned by third parties.

Authors are responsible for obtaining permission where necessary for copyrighted images, figures, manuscript reproductions, archival materials, maps, illustrations, long quotations, or other protected materials included in their article.

Authors working with Islamic manuscripts, archival documents, rare books, private collections, or unpublished historical materials must respect ownership rights, repository regulations, reproduction restrictions, and any permissions required for publication.

Authors are responsible for ensuring that translations, transliterations, textual editions, reproductions, and quoted passages are accurate and legally permissible. Sources and editions must be clearly identified.

ILMU's copyright and licensing policy supports open scholarly communication by allowing research to circulate internationally while preserving proper recognition of authorship and the scholarly record.
