Peer Review Process
Indonesian Literature of Muslim Understanding (ILMU) applies a double-blind peer review system. The identities of authors are concealed from reviewers, and the identities of reviewers are not disclosed to authors.
This process is designed to promote fair, independent, objective, and academically rigorous evaluation of submitted manuscripts.
Original contribution and scholarly significance.
Suitability for ILMU's focus and scope.
Clarity, coherence, and strength of scholarly arguments.
Appropriateness and clarity of methods or analytical approaches.
Quality, relevance, and accuracy of scholarly references.
Value of the manuscript to Islamic studies and Muslim understanding.
If reviewer recommendations differ significantly, the editor may evaluate the manuscript independently or appoint an additional reviewer before making a final editorial decision.
Authors should address reviewer comments carefully and professionally. A revised submission should normally include:
- a revised manuscript;
- a clear response to reviewer comments;
- an explanation of major changes made;
- academic justification where a reviewer suggestion is not followed.
Reviewers must treat submitted manuscripts as confidential documents and must not share, reproduce, or use unpublished material without permission from the editorial team.
Reviewers must decline a review assignment when a conflict of interest may compromise the independence or fairness of their assessment.
International Literature of Muslim Understanding (ILMU) is committed to maintaining a rigorous and ethical peer review process that supports high-quality international scholarship on Islam and Muslim societies.
