Submission through Open Journal Systems

All manuscripts submitted to International Literature of Muslim Understanding (ILMU) must be submitted electronically through the journal's Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform.

Authors are expected to prepare their manuscripts according to the Author Guidelines and complete all required submission information before finalizing the submission.

How to Submit a Manuscript

Create an Account
Authors who do not yet have an account must register on the ILMU OJS platform and provide accurate personal and institutional information.

Start a New Submission
After logging in, select Make a New Submission and follow the submission steps provided by the OJS system.

Upload the Manuscript
Upload the manuscript in Microsoft Word format and ensure that the file complies with the journal template and technical requirements.

Complete the Metadata
Enter the article title, abstract, keywords, author information, affiliations, and other required metadata accurately.

Review and Confirm
Review all uploaded files and metadata carefully before completing the submission. Once confirmed, the manuscript enters editorial screening.

Article Metadata

Metadata entered in OJS should correspond exactly with the manuscript. Accurate metadata is important for indexing, discoverability, citation tracking, and digital preservation.

Title: Enter the complete article title exactly as written in the manuscript.
Abstract: Enter the complete English abstract.
Keywords: Provide relevant keywords representing the article.
Authors: Add all authors in the correct authorship order.
Affiliation and ORCID

Institutional affiliation should be written clearly and consistently, preferably including department or program, faculty or institution, city, and country.

Authors are encouraged to provide a valid ORCID ID to support accurate author identification and scholarly metadata.

Pre-Submission Checklist
✓ The manuscript is relevant to ILMU's Focus & Scope.
✓ The manuscript is original and has not been previously published.
✓ The manuscript is not under consideration by another journal.
✓ The manuscript is written in academic English.
✓ The manuscript follows the ILMU journal template and Author Guidelines.
✓ All quotations, sources, translations, and references are properly acknowledged.
✓ All authors have approved the submission.
✓ All required metadata has been completed accurately.
Supplementary Files

Authors may be requested to provide supplementary documents when relevant, including:

  • research instruments;
  • ethics approval documents;
  • copyright or reproduction permissions;
  • manuscript or archival documentation;
  • datasets or supporting materials;
  • other files requested by the editorial team.
Corresponding Author

The corresponding author is responsible for communication between the editorial team and all co-authors.

The corresponding author should monitor the submission, respond to editorial correspondence, coordinate revisions, and ensure that all authors approve substantive changes.

Revised Manuscript Submission

If revisions are requested, authors should upload the revised manuscript through the same submission record in OJS.

A revised version incorporating appropriate changes.
Response to Reviewers
A clear response explaining how reviewer comments were addressed.
Changes in Authorship

Any addition, removal, or rearrangement of authors after submission must be justified and approved by all authors and the editorial team. Authorship changes must not be made solely for administrative, reputational, or non-academic reasons.

Manuscript Withdrawal

Authors wishing to withdraw a manuscript must submit a formal request to the editorial team explaining the reason for withdrawal. The request should be approved by all authors.

No Simultaneous Submission

A manuscript submitted to ILMU must not be simultaneously submitted to another journal while it remains under editorial consideration. Simultaneous submission is considered a violation of publication ethics.
